Cabbage Stew
Cabbage soup made with ground beef, vegetables and tomatoes. It’s the perfect cold weather soup and makes enough for leftovers.
- 2 lbs ground turkey or lean ground beef grass fed if possible
- 1 T olive oil
- 1 onion
- 1 tsp garlic
- 1 head cabbage medium head, chopped
- 2 cans 14.5 oz. diced tomato love Muir Glen, organic
- 1 25.5 oz jar spaghetti sauce love Muir Glen Tomato Basil, or Italian Herb organic
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Greek seasoning be sure to check for and avoid msg (monosodium glutamate you can also leave out since your spaghetti sauce is seasoned with herbs)
Add olive oil, onion, salt and garlic to Ground Turkey or Ground Beef and brown. Add diced tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, and tomato sauce to browned turkey or beef mixture.
Alternate layering Meat/sauce mixture with chopped cabbage in Dutch oven or roaster beginning with meat/sauce mixture.
Top with ½ cup water or a little more.
Bake uncovered in the oven at 375 for 2 hours. I'm sure this will become one of your family favorites as well.
