Summer Skin Hydration

Although your skin comprises of up to 70% water, skin can still become dehydrated. Keeping the skin well hydrated is essential during the summer months when the moisture can be lost through sweat, air conditioning, humidity, chlorine, exposure to intense UV radiation, and taking long showers.

Here are top tips for keeping your skin healthy & hydrated as we head into the hot summer days.

Use a hydrating cleanser. Some cleansers are harsh on the skin and strip it of its natural moisture. Use one that is gentle on the skin and has hydrating ingredients as well as possessing the ability to restore the skin’s PH balance.

Use a daily moisturizer. Look for one that contains a mineral UV filter that will protect you from harmful rays, while hydrating your skin to maintain its optimal level of moisture.

Top up your moisture levels. The new Hydrate Me Instant Moisture Booster boosts skin’s hydration levels and provide up to 24 hrs of continuous hydration.

Make exfoliation a priority. No matter the season, fall, winter, or summer, regular exfoliation is a must to keep your skin looking silky soft. With this product, you can gently slough away dirt, dead skin cells, and any other grime to encourage a smooth, fresh appearance.

Apply a face mask. Applying a moisturizing face mask like the Instant Cooling Moisture Mask a couple of times a week will revive the skin and restore lost moisture. The mask has a a cooling effect, delivers moisture to the skin and helps improve skin tone and smoothness, resulting in skin that feels soft and smooth to the touch. .

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. Proper hydration is key to keeping your skin soft and smooth. In addition to using moisturizer, make sure that you’re staying hydrated as well. No matter the season, drinking enough water is crucial. In the summer months, especially, make sure that you’re getting your daily recommended water intake so you can stay hydrated inside and out. Keep Your Cool in the Shower. Finally, if you find yourself out in the pool often, make sure to rinse off as soon as you can. Chlorine can be harsh on your skin, so washing it away is a must. However, also make sure that you’re keeping your showers on the cooler and shorter side. Long, hot, steamy showers can feel nice, but can also dry out your skin.
