Spring Cleaning Your Skin

Spring has arrived! This season of renewal is a great time to wake up your skin from its long winter slumber. If you’ve neglected your cleansing and purifying routine during your winter hibernation, it’s time to spring clean your skin and restore the radiance. Just like spring cleaning your house means surface cleaning, deep cleaning, and shining, spring cleaning your skin follows the same pattern. And just like with your house, treating your skin the same way can leave your skin looking brighter, clearer, and more balanced into the summer and beyond.

Here are the steps I follow and the products I use to get my skin summer ready.

Deep clean. You already know how important cleansing is – a mainstay in your routine, it’s as key in spring as it is in winter. Cleaning your skin daily is critical to remove oil, dust, grime, allergens, and bacteria to prevent your skin from getting infected or breaking out. With the summer months approaching, glowing skin is the name of the game, so look for cleansers that clean deeply without stripping. This Brighten Up Pearlescent Foaming Cleansing is great for leaving skin clean, soft and hydrated.

Exfoliate. The purpose of exfoliation is to remove dead skin cells that build up on the surface level of your skin. If you fall behind on your exfoliation routine, your skin can look dull, feel rough, and may be more prone to breakouts. Luckily, a single exfoliation can instantly give you positive results even if you’ve fallen behind on it through the winter months. The new Cell Exfoliating Mask + Cleanser helps remove dead skin cells and deliver glowing skin. It’ll leave your skin looking smooth, hydrated, soft, and radiant — just as it should be.

Get Glowing. Everyone likes getting results, and when it comes to skin care, one of the best options for getting that glow long-term is adding a face serum to your daily lineup. They’re powerful, targeted to specific skin care issues or needs, and easy to apply. My favorite serum for glowing skin is Brighten Up Luminous Serum. It’s highly concentrated yet lightweight with radiance-enhancing hydration ingredients plus Stabilized Vitamin C to temporarily improve the appearance of skin discoloration.

Protect. While you don’t need to switch out all of your failsafe skin formulas each season, in the spirit of spring cleaning your space, it is wise to toss out any formulations that might be out of date, especially SPF’s. Make sure you are using a mineral based sunscreen like FunSun Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 for maximum protection and benefits.
